CHILD CARE & EARLY EDUCATION

Educational programs encompass Nursery, bridge course, remedial coaching up to class XII from two premises (hired as well as volunteered) in Malviya Nagar; and also community area (Jagdamba Camp, Sheikh Sarai Phase-II, Delhi) and rural tribal Baripada (in Odisha State).

PROJECT ASHA

Project ASHA focuses on slum dwelling out-of-school children or school drop outs (6-10) who never got an opportunity to pursue basic education due to personal circumstances including lack of resources and ultimately take to the streets. Project Asha thus becomes a harbinger of hope.  Children are prepared to join formal schools in appropriate classes by providing the needed academic support and guidance. Children are also provided with a nutritious snack, study materials, stationery, cloths, etc. which acts as motivation to attend the classes regularly. Bridge education helps drop-out children re-join formal school. 

The approach includes the following: 

  • Children are divided into groups based on their knowledge and learning levels in different subjects
  • Preparatory classes in various subjects held daily
  • Personal Assistance to children in documentation(completion of paperwork) for admission into school
  • Accompanying children and their parents to the concerned schools and assist in the filling of required forms, submission of necessary documents etc. 

This field assistance service is also provided to the children who are not attending classes at Aarohan, but seek our help in completing for admission procedure.

The children who are unable to join mainstream schools are made to attainin minimum literacy level and subsequently provided with vocational training.

PROJECT JAGDAMBA CAMP

Nursery School in slum of Jagdamba Camp in Sheikh Sarai is “Flagship” project focuses on children (3-5 years)- providing early childhood learning and Pre-school Education (preparatory to formal schooling) Teaching through play and coaching them on personal hygiene and social skills, these children are prepared to enter a structured learning system. 

The focus is on the following aspects: 

  • To provide a physically secure and hygienic  learnig environment.
  • To facilitate basic cognitive development of children.
  • To prepare children to better assimilate into mainstream schools.
  • To spread awareness among parents on how to care their children’s early development.
  • To help parents in completion of necessary documentation for child admission into School.
