History of Aarohan:
In 2005, a 7year old child called Rohan was caught stealing Rani Patel’s car’s side mirror. Instead of handing over the child to the police, she decided to find more about him and his background. This took Rani and her friend Anjana Tata to the neighborhood slums where they saw young children just aimlessly loitering around. Some of these children were influenced by older kids or other anti-social elements who then encouraged the children to indulge in petty thefts and stealing for money. The parents, generally migrant labour would be out for the day on their work and the children were left to their own devices. They decided that something concrete needs to be done for these children from underprivileged backgrounds and the seeds of Aarohan were sown.
