TEACH THE MOTHER
Initiative for Community Women
Launched in 2012, ‘Teach the Mother’ program is a natural extension of Aarohan’s education program for children. It is a step towards empowering women.
Aarohan believes that “the growth of the child is proportionate to the strength of the mother”.
The program aims:
At Aarohan Skill Development Centres, training in fashion design, garment making and tailoring, entrepreneur skills, digital literacy, financial literacy, retail management and adult literacy is imparted.
USHA Silai School curriculum and certificate is complemented with lessons on personal grooming for the women to step out in the world, confident and independent. The women are sensitized about the increasing textile landfills in India. The women are encourage to up-cycle, re-cycle the textile waste. The products are made by the beneficiaries are well appreciated.
Awareness on women rights, personal counseling, menstrual health and hygiene are a part of the course.
The expert trainer teach and acquaint them with the latest trend, dresses, attire. Many of the women successfully are running their own boutiques and transform their lives.
Aarohan believes that the growth of the child is proportionate to the strength of the mother. By linking gender and child development, the program is committed to helping community women become financially independent and gain better control of their lives. Women are made aware of their rights and choices through education and awareness programs.
For better livelihood opportunities, short courses are also offered on financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills and retail management.
